Duration: 10 minutes
We feature another piece by Georg Philipp Telemann, the almost completely self-taught musician whose prolific works have become a staple in many Baroque programmes. A contemporary of J.S. Bach’s, Telemann composed more than 3,000 works in his lifetime, though many have been lost or not performed since the 1700s. Bach and Telemann were friends, and Bach made Telemann the godfather of his son, Carl Philipp Emanuel.
