Louise Renault
director

Louise began her professional life working backstage in theatres in Montreal and Toronto. She soon transitioned to working as an Assistant Director on over 60 film and television productions across Canada. Since 1996, Louise has found a niche in Halifax as a voice-over performer, working in both official languages on hundreds of commercials, readings, industrials, E-Learning, and the award-winning CBC Radio drama Backbencher. Louise’s experience as an Assistant Director has also served her well in her work in arts administration in dance and theatre. Directing credits include Dancing at Lughnasa, Thirteen Hands, and Circus Circle, a circus/theatre show involving professional and youth circus artists.

She was a fill-in co-host and cultural reporter for regional shows on Radio-Canada in Halifax off and on for 12 years, and then co-host of CBC Radio Halifax’s weekday show Information Morning for 11 years. In June 2021, Louise opted to return to the freelance world to pursue more creative work. She continues to work as a voice-over artist in both French and English, guest host on CBC Radio, and collaborates with many different arts organizations. She is very proud to be a part of this wonderful collaborative performance project between the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra and Halifax Circus.
