Little is known about Italian composer Maria Margherita Grimani. Her three known works include the opera Pallade e Marte and two oratorios, La visitazione de Elisabetta and La decollazione di S. Giovanni Battista. Though she was not employed as a court musician, it is speculated that she lived at Vienna's noble court, and Pallade e Marte was the first opera penned by a woman composer to be performed at the Royal Opera.
