Lydia MacDonald is entering her third year of Music at Dalhousie University, studying Violin and Piano.
She frequently performs in her studios’ noon-hour and evening recitals, studying with professors Dr. Leonardo Perez and Peter Allen. Lydia has played with the NSYO for five seasons now, three of which she has been honoured to hold the position of Concertmaster. She has also been active in music with the Dalhousie Symphony Orchestra, playing symphonies such as Beethoven’s Sixth and Dvořák's Eighth. Lydia has also enjoyed being a part of a chamber group this past year, performing Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in A Minor.
Lydia is the seventh child in a musical family of eight children. She has been playing violin, cello, and piano for several years. From a young age, she has loved and greatly appreciated music in her everyday life and in the music ministry of her church. Outside the practice room, she enjoys wilderness camping, canoeing, and hunting with her family. Lydia wholeheartedly agrees with Bach’s signature, soli deo gloria.
