Kayla Spalding is a dancer and choreographer originating from Winston-Salem, NC. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography and her Bachelor of Arts in History from Elon University. Kayla performed in numerous Elon main stage productions over the last four years. At Elon, most recently she was selected to perform in works by Renay Aumiller, NeKeshia Wall, Casey Avaunt, Maurice Watson, Ashley Lindsey, and Alexandra Joye Warren. Over the past two years, Kayla has also been granted the opportunity to perform in the Richmond Dance Festival (2022) and travel to Florence, Italy, and perform in the Florence Dance Festival (2022). Kayla’s choreography was adjudicated among a variety of works and selected to be presented in a site-specific dance performance in 2021 and in a main stage dance performance at Elon in 2022. She also served as an artistic director for the Elon University DanceWorks showcase and the MODA Collaborative BFA senior thesis showcase in which she performed and shared choreographic work. Kayla received the Outstanding Senior Dance Performance and Choreography Award by the faculty of the Department of Performing Arts and the Outstanding Senior History Award at Elon. Kayla is currently interning with the Alvin Ailey School Summer Intensive working alongside other faculty aiding in the development of the junior division and professional division summer intensive program.
