Yoshi Sanders is a dance performer, choreographer, and educator from Western Massachusetts. Yoshi is a rising senior at Vassar College, where he studies dance and psychology. Yoshi began his dance training under Shakia Barron in 2013 at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts School in South Hadley, Massachusetts. For the past three years, Yoshi has been a member of the Vassar Repertory Dance Theater, performing new works by various artists including Yoshito Sakuraba, Jennifer Archibald, Desmond Richardson, Stephen Rooks, and Leslie Partridge Sachs. Yoshi was lucky enough to spend the Fall of 2022 studying at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance as well as the Vertigo Dance Company International Dance Program. There, Yoshi performed repertoire by Ido Gidron, Andrea Constanza Martini, and Alex Clare. Yoshi has also been involved with the Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) for the past nine years acting as a lead mentor and facilitator. Yoshi has led and assisted DEL workshops at Jacob's Pillow in Becket MA, the 92Y in New York City, and most recently right here at ADF! He was also recently featured in P.S. Dance, The Next Generation, a film by Nel Shelby Productions that documented a three week DEL residency at a public elementary school in Northampton, MA. Yoshi was the recipient of National NDEO Artistic Merit, Leadership, and Academic Achievement Award in 2019.
