Allison Smith recently graduated with a BFA in Dance from The Ohio State University. During her time in the dance program, she trained in different physical practices in contemporary dance with faculty members Eddie Taketa, Susan Van Pelt Petry, Crystal Michelle Perkins, Momar Ndiaye, Alon Karniel, and Abby Zbikowski. She also gained exposure to street dance styles with Donald Isom and traditional West African styles with Ndiaye and Suzan Bradford Kounta. In the program, she found a love for embodied research and creative processes and participated in repertory any time it was offered, where she performed in original works by Dave Covey, Petry, Ndiaye, Karniel, and Zbikowski. She is currently interested in spending time in kinesthetic investigation to uncover nuances within the body; she finds excitement in the work that it takes to hone the body, allowing for free expression of ideas. She is incredibly thankful for Tatiana and Lauriane, for their time, energy, support, and knowledge within this process. She feels her dancing has been forever changed because of this experience.
