Anna Geniushene catapulted to international attention as the silver medalist at the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, where her powerful, nuanced playing and magnetic stage presence captivated audiences and critics alike. Musical America praised her “powerhouse sound, forceful musical personality, and sheer virtuosity,” while La Scena and Onstage NTX noted the rare insight and devotion in her interpretations.
Since then, Anna has earned widespread acclaim, including being named Musical America’s Young Artist of the Month and gracing the cover of Pianist magazine. Highlights of recent and upcoming seasons include debut recitals at the Kennedy Center for Washington Performing Arts, Wiener Konzerthaus, Tonhalle Zurich, and Bravo! Vail and Grand Teton Music Festivals, as well as concerto appearances with the Taipei and Lithuanian Symphony Orchestras. She has performed under conductors such as Eliahu Inbal, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, and Gábor Takács-Nagy, and in collaborations with pianists Wu Han and Dmytro Choni.
A devoted chamber musician, Anna joins the Bowers Program of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in 2024. Her recent solo album of lullabies was released in 2023, and a duo disc with her husband and frequent collaborator, pianist Lukas Geniušas, is forthcoming on Alpha Classics.
Born in Moscow, Anna made her recital debut at age seven and is a laureate of major competitions including Leeds, Tchaikovsky, and Busoni. She studied at the Moscow Conservatory and the Royal Academy of Music in London, and currently lives in Lithuania with her husband and two young sons.
