Hsin-Yun Huang is recognized as one of the foremost violists of her generation, admired for her expressive artistry, advocacy for new music, and commitment to education. She has appeared as soloist with leading orchestras including the Berlin Radio Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic, Bogotá Philharmonic, and Beijing’s NCPA Orchestra, becoming the first violist to perform a concerto there.
A sought-after chamber musician, she appears regularly at festivals such as Marlboro, Santa Fe, Music@Menlo, and La Jolla, and has toured extensively with the Brentano String Quartet. Huang is the founder of VivaViola!, dedicated to expanding the viola repertoire through collaboration and dialogue. She serves on the viola faculties of The Juilliard School and The Curtis Institute of Music, and performs on a 1735 Testore viola.
