In her first 25 years alone, Hull hit more milestones than many musicians accomplish in a lifetime. After Alison Krauss called her to the Grand Ole Opry stage when she was 11, the Tennessee-bred virtuoso played Carnegie Hall at age 12, then landed a deal with Rounder Records just a year later. Now 28-years-old, Hull’s 25 Trips is elegantly inventive and endlessly captivating, with a title that nods to a momentous year of her life, including her marriage and the release of her widely acclaimed album Weighted Mind, a Béla Fleck-produced effort nominated for Best Folk Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
Hull came to us as a bluegrass teen prodigy and soon became known as a remarkable mandolin player, a tone-true vocalist and a recording artist of high order. In 2008, her first album, Secrets, was co-produced by Krauss and Ron Block. Throughout the years, Sierra has put greater focus on her songwriting, authoring seven of the 12 songs on her 2011 sophomore release, Daybreak. She’s played the White House, Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, and became the first bluegrass musician to receive a Presidential Scholarship at Berklee College of Music.
