Recipient of the 2022 Avery Fisher Career Grant, American pianist Mackenzie Melemed’s international career continues to flourish. In the press, Melemed is consistently lauded as a consummate solo artist, a remarkably sensitive chamber musician and first-class soloist with orchestra.

Winner of Juilliard’s 2019 Leo B. Ruiz Carnegie Hall Recital Prize and 2018 Arthur Rubinstein Prize, as well as many others, he was also a laureate of the 2021 American Pianists Awards. Melemed, a Steinway Artist, performs in recital and solo orchestral engagements throughout North America and Finland. Recent concerto included performances with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, among others, as well as chamber music performances with the Dover Quartet and solo recitals at Carnegie Hall, Paris’ Salle Cortôt, at Finland's Sibelius Festival and Rockport Music’s Shalin Liu Performance Center.

Melemed commissioned a new Piano Concerto from Israeli-American composer Avner Dorman and performed the world-premiere performances with the Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha-Eisenach under Dorman’s baton to rave reviews and thunderous applause. His discography features Dorman’s Three Etudes on the Steinway and Sons label (2018) and Jeajoon Ryu’s Piano Concerto with Sinfonia Varsovia on the Warner Classics label (2019).

Melemed graduated from The Juilliard School, studying with Robert McDonald and Emanuel Ax, with both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees.
