Barbara de los Angeles Zamora Vargas is a talented singer, songwriter, and educator from Manzanillo, Cuba, now based in Boston, MA. A graduate of the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, she specialized in Choral Conducting and Performance. As the lead singer of the Cuban female orchestra Anacaona, Barbara toured internationally, performing at festivals like Nuits D’Afrique in Montreal and Sunfest in London.
She also starred in “El Burgués Gentilhombre,” appearing at venues such as the Chaillot theater in Paris and the Cabaret at Monte Carlo Casino in Monaco. Barbara has contributed as a backup singer on several projects, including the Latin Grammy-winning album “La Rumba Soy Yo” and collaborations with Isaac Delgado.
Her solo debut, “Mi Entrega,” features her songwriting in genres like bolero, son, blues, and salsa. Currently, Barbara is working on her second album, set for release in 2025, as she continues to celebrate the legacy of women in music through her Afro-Cuban roots.
