John Matthew Myers

John Matthew Myers has been praised for his “lovely, warm tenor of considerable promise” (Opera News), “insightful and beautifully nuanced performances” (Fort Worth Star-Telegram), and “remarkable emotional depth and range” (Opera Magazine). He has collaborated with renowned companies, including the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, and Teatro alla Scala. His acclaimed debut album, Desiderium, featuring works by American composers, was released on AVIE Records in 2022.

In the 2024-2025 season, Myers will perform Handel’s Messiah with the Pittsburgh Symphony and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 at the Grant Park Music Festival, and Schoenberg’s Gurrelieder with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta. Opera engagements include Les Troyens at Seattle Opera and Tosca with the Richmond Symphony. He debuts in Strauss’s Die Liebe der Danae with Opera Carlo Felice Genova and returns to Opernhaus Zürich for Ariadne auf Naxos.

Myers made his Los Angeles Philharmonic debut in 2017 as Mao in Nixon in China and reprised the role with Opera National de Paris in 2023. He has also covered roles at the Metropolitan Opera, including in Peter Grimes, Boris Godunov, and Der Rosenkavalier.

A native of southern California, Myers holds degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and has earned distinctions, including prizes at the Wigmore Hall Bollinger International Song Competition. His versatile career continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
