Pianist Dr. Juyeon Kang, a Steinway Artist and educator, has been a member of the music faculty at Northwestern College since 2003, where she serves as a Professor of Music. She has captivated audiences across four continents, performing in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Finland, Canada, Costa Rica, Brazil, China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and South Korea.
Her 2013-2014 concert season featured a debut recital at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in New York City. In 2007, her debut recording, Joyful Noise, was released by Fleur de Son Classics, Ltd., followed by Joyful Dances from Blue Griffin Recording, Inc. in 2013 and Joyful Praise in 2022 - all to critical acclaim.
Dr. Kang holds doctoral and master's degrees in piano performance and literature, as well as a Master of Arts in music theory pedagogy from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where she was also awarded the Distinguished Performer's Certificate. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Seoul National University and received the prestigious Artist Diploma in Piano Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where she also served on the college division faculty.
During the 2010-2011 and 2018-2019 academic years, Dr. Kang spent two years in Vienna, Austria, conducting sabbatical research on Viennese Culture and Its Music and Orchestra Conducting in affiliation with the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
