Abigail Amanda DeKam will be attending West Virginia University to obtain a major in music performance and a minor in Spanish. There, she looks forward to learning under Professor Assimakolopous, who will help her flourish and enhance her performing skills. DeKam is passionate about sharing her love of music with everyone and hopes to become a professor of either flute or ethnomusicology and perform as an orchestral player. DeKam has won first place in the Northern State University Friends of the Arts Competition, third place in the Bruce P. Carlson Schubert Club Competition, and received placements in All-State Band three years and All-State Orchestra two years. This previous summer, she produced her first CD by herself and has plans to release a second before leaving for college. Among DeKam's long list of favorite musicians are Jacob Collier, Einojuhuani Rautavaara, Lil Simz, Emmanuel Pahud, and Ravel.
