Hijinx for strings is the string orchestral arrangement of the first movement of a piano sonata which I wrote in the summer of 2020 while vacationing with my family at an Airbnb in South Hero, VT.  The main theme of the sonata and subsequent string arrangement was in turn based on a little piano ditty that I had written for the students of my group piano class for singers while teaching at Westminster Choir College which was located in Princeton, NJ.  It is an energetic and ebullient frolic of many meters and moods. The final coda is based on a tune which I shamelessly took, on the suggestion of my wife, Sue, from the Air BnB's Westinghouse microwave "done" tune proving that inspiration can come from anywhere-even while reheating pasta.
