The experience of being a new music therapist forces us to navigate many unknowns and ask countless questions, in line with the experience of a new physician working in intensive care. Existing and working as a new professional involves a variety of emotions — from confidence to self-doubt, eagerness, excitement, and fear, all whilst figuring out what it means to be a music therapist and create connections with those we work with. This presentation aims to discuss and reveal the felt experience of one new professional working within this space through sharing reflections on lessons learned through doing the work.
