Trees
Daniel Brinsmead

Daniel Brismead’s choral interpretation of Trees focuses on the text of Joyce Kilmer and his fascination with the beauty of the natural world as well as his religious faith.

Brinsmead fluctuates with the meter throughout this piece to put an emphasis on the iambic tetrameter of each couplet in the original poem. The chordal structure adds tension and resolution to each phrase to reflect a feeling of growth for the listener while enhancing the personification of “trees.”
