ANIMAL musically traces the evolution of an imaginary living organism. What starts from a single, pulsating, de-tuned, unison blip unfolds through a tableau of fantastical fungi, amphibious reptiles, birds and mammals. Through athletic melodic sweeps, heavy rock rhythms, and unique ensemble colors, ANIMAL builds to a humanioid creature that transforms into a grotesque monstrosity in a final furious march leading to its own extinction.
