Stephen Michaels is saxophonist and woodwind double based in Birmingham, Alabama. He began studying music at the age of eleven, but by the age of fifteen was immersed in advanced study at the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. Most recently, he presented a featured recital, “Stephen Michaels and the Strings,” a genre-blending project where in beloved selections from musicals were reimagined for jazz quartet and string ensemble. Currently, he is preparing for his debut album while working within the musical scene of his hometown and traveling the world performing aboard cruise ships.
