Kevin Covert
Director

Kevin Covert currently serves as the director of musical theatre and associate professor of theatre at Shenandoah Conservatory, where the musical theatre program is highly regarded as one of the top five in the nation. His students can be seen on Broadway, national tours, and in TV/film. As a Broadway actor, he was in the original Broadway cast of Monty Python’s Spamalot, the original Broadway cast of Memphis (Fred Astaire Nominee 2010), and most recent revival of How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying starring Daniel Radcliffe, Darren Criss, and Nick Jonas. Covert can be heard on the original Broadway cast albums of all three. He has toured the country with South Pacific, Cats, Grand Hotel, and the 50th anniversary production of Oklahoma! Regionally he has worked at Goodspeed Musicals, Sacramento Music Circus, Houston TUTS, Kansas City Starlight, and North Shore Music Theatre. In addition to being a Broadway actor and educator, Covert also serves as one of Tony Award Winner Christopher Gattelli’s (Newsies, Death Becomes Her) associates, working with him on the Broadway revival of South Pacific as well as the world premiere of Emmet Otter at Goodspeed, off-Broadway, and in Chicago. He has taught, directed, and choreographed all across the United States. Covert has studied with Jose Quintero, Craig Carnelia, and Fred Chappell. He is a proud Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theatre graduate of Florida State University.
