Cello Suite No. 2 in D Minor
Johann Sebastian Bach

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) wrote six cello suites for unaccompanied cello and each suite consists of a prelude followed by a series of Baroque-style dances. The suites are structured in six movements which include prelude, allemande, courante, sarabande, two minuets/bourrées/gavottes, and a gigue. The range of Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor fits into the range of the euphonium and the singing minor melodies illustrate the melancholic tone of the instrument.
