Thunder
Joe W. Moore III

Like Wildlings, Thunder is a noisy piece, but it’s also technical and refined. Moore uses polyrhythms, dynamics and different tempi to give the impression of a thunderstorm rolling by and fading away, and when the worst of the storm approaches, the energy tears through the roof!

With Thunder, the memories that instantly came to my mind were the moments when I had to cope with my long-lasting fear of thunderstorms. As a kid, I used to hurry into my parents’ bedroom the second I heard a loud boom of thunder or a blinding flash of lightning. However, as I got into my teenage years, that fear started to subside. Nowadays, I’m only mildly annoyed by thunderstorms if they distract me from my work. Overall, Thunder reminds me to face my fears head-on and to tackle challenges in life with courage and resilience.
