Wildlings
Ivan Trevino

This raucous piece consists of two multi-percussion setups; both of which has its own set of four toms and shares a bass drum in the center. The main difference lies with each part’s hand percussion parts, which act as solo sections. One part has only a djembe, while the other features two bongos and two congas. One noteworthy detail about the complete setup is that it resembles the shape of a butterfly.

Wildlings reminds me of the numerous occasions during my childhood when my cousins, friends, neighbors and other kids around my age would visit my house for a special occasion, usually for a birthday party, sporting event or a holiday. Add my brothers into the mix and it was party time!
