Aleksandra Vrebalov’s Echolocations owes its form to the twentieth century “open score” tradition, where unspecified musicians play usually fairly unspecified music, notated in a concise and shorthand format. Echolocations premiered in 2016 at the NEXT Festival of Emerging Artists in New York.
