Jewel Moore is enjoying her first year in the Master of Music in Performance (Voice) program at Shenandoah University and is thrilled to be back in her home state after being based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for several years. She received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she was the student leader of the Opera and Oratorio Ensemble. Her solo role experience includes playing Zita in Gianni Schicchi and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell); and she has enjoyed numerous ensemble roles, including productions Carmen, Faust, La Boheme and Madama Butterfly.
As a teacher, she has worked with children ages three to eighteen in the city of Philadelphia, introducing them to the world of voice performance and musical drama through programs hosted by the Kimmel Center and the Music Training Center.
As an artist, she is inspired by work that explores personal and cultural identity, the power (and challenges) of maintaining faith, and the beauty of allowing magic and whimsy into our everyday lives.
