Lourdes Rodriguez from Hyattsville, Maryland, is a twenty-one year old coloratura soprano pursuing a career as a professional opera singer. She is in the final year of her Bachelor of Music in Performance (Voice) at Shenandoah Conservatory, where she will graduate in Spring 2023. In 2021, Lourdes received third place in both the NATS Virginia and Mid-Atlantic Regional Competition. In December 2022, she received an honorable mention in Friday Morning Music Club’s Sue Goetz Competition in Bethesda, Maryland.
Opera roles sung in her time at Shenandoah Conservatory include Angelina in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury, Dorinda in scenes from Handel’s Orlando in Shenandoah Conservatory’s Gothic Opera, Susanna in a scene from Mozart's Le Nozze Di Figaro, Titine in Germaine Tailleferre’s Le Pauvre Eugénie in Shenandoah Conservatory’s The New World of Opera and Nikki Giovanni in Hydrogen Jukebox. Last summer at the Vienna Summer Music Festival in Vienna, Austria, Lourdes covered Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and sang the roles of Venus in Pluto by Michael J. Polo and Bird Peddler in Mondo Novo by Paul Richards.
In January 2023, she is scheduled to perform in concert as a recipient of the Wednesday Music Club Music Major scholarship in Charlottesville, Virginia.
