Lourdes Rodriguez from Hyattsville, Maryland, is a twenty-one-year-old coloratura soprano pursuing a career as a professional opera singer. She is in the final year of her bachelor’s degree in voice performance at Shenandoah Conservatory. Rodriguez has sung several roles in opera productions, including recently at the Vienna Summer Music Festival in Vienna, Austria, where she covered Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and sang the coloratura lead Venus in Pluto by Michael J. Polo and Bird Peddler in Mondo Novo by Paul Richards, both being world premieres. In January, she performed in concert as a recipient of the Wednesday Music Club Music Major scholarship in Charlottesville, Virginia. Most recently, she won first place in the undergraduate voice category for Shenandoah Conservatory’s Student Soloists Competition and as a winner will perform with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra. This spring, she will fulfill the role of Cobweb in Shenandoah Conservatory's production of Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream where will also cover the coloratura lead Titania. Rodriguez is passionate about gaining experience as a young artist and intends to use it to grow, leading to a future career in opera.
