Jeff Buckley

This is my most favorite song ever. I was driving on the 47 toward the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California on my way home from school and this song came on (yes, on my Discover Weekly playlist) and I was immediately entranced. I had only ever heard Jeff Buckley sing “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen and hadn’t even realized he had his own music. Buckley says in an interview that this song is about not caring about your mortality because you have the one that you love by your side. “And the rain is falling and I believe my time has come. It reminds me of the pain I might leave behind.” Not only do the lyrics dig into my soul, the harmony does not go where the ear thinks it will. This song, and all of Jeff Buckley’s discography, have been a staple in my life and I am so happy I get to share it with all of you.
