William Newton is a Filipino-American percussionist, educator and composer.
He completed his Master of Music degree in percussion performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music. He studied with esteemed musicians such as Michael Burritt, Chip Ross, Rich Thompson, Shane Shanahan and Brian Kushmaul. Previously he attended the University of South Carolina where he studied with Dr. Scott Herring. At these two schools, he had many wonderful opportunities such as playing in the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Eastman Percussion Ensemble, Carolina Band Drumline, Palmetto Pans Steel Band, Swing-Shift Jazz Band and more.
Currently, he is working on a lot of exciting projects including serving as the adjunct percussion professor at Radford University, working as the drumline instructor for the Shenandoah University Marching Band, running Wildlight Publications, playing with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and freelancing in Virginia.
