This piece was inspired by a young man who was tap dancing on a street corner in the French Quarter of New Orleans. He had no formal training. He didn’t even have “real” tap shoes. Just front taps that he had attached to his sneakers. He told me that he taught himself how to dance by watching YouTube videos of tap dancers. He was vibrant, alive and incredible. Free.
