Fanny Mendelssohn (1805–1847) was a German composer and pianist of the early Romantic era, recognized as Fanny Hensel following her marriage. Her repertoire comprises a diverse range of compositions, including a piano trio, quartet, orchestral overture, four cantatas, more than 125 piano pieces, and more than 250 lieder, although most remained unpublished during her lifetime. Despite her brilliance and her exceptional piano skills, Fanny seldom performed publicly beyond her family sphere.
