Collaboration is probably my favorite part about music making. I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by talented colleagues that are always excited to work together and create music. This piece in particular highlights the parts of percussion that are crucial to me: sounds and togetherness. Takemitsu’s writing evokes such serene and vivid imagery and solitude, and the combination of all three players creates a captivating soundscape for the audience to get lost in.
