Henry's questionable ascension to the throne

Henry V ascended to the English throne in 1413 upon the death of his father, Henry IV, who had usurped the crown by overthrowing and imprisoning Richard II in 1399 ("the fault my father made in compassing the crown," as Henry puts it on the eve of the Agincourt).
