Darynn Wanamaker is a soprano that hails from Suitland, Maryland. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia, studying in Dr. Fotina Naumenko’s studio. Previously, she was enrolled in Suitland High School’s Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) program, where she was a piano major. She undertook all four years in rigorous piano study, while also emphasizing on her vocal studies. She sang in the studio of Joseph Richter during her time at Suitland. She has participated in two consecutive summer programs: Brevard Music Center’s Classical & Musical Theater Summer Intensives (2022) and The Washington National Opera Institute (2023). There, she studied under Janine Hawley (BMC ’22), Dr. Nakia Verner and Dr. Lester Green (WNOI ’23). In addition to singing, she is a skilled classical composer who has had one of her works debuted under one of her previous piano teachers. She thanks her vocal faculty for helping her cultivate her craft.
