Jose Noe Barrera Garcia is a Salvadoran-American tenor from Clinton, Maryland, in the second year of his bachelor’s degree in voice performance at Shenandoah Conservatory. He studies with Dr. Fotina Naumenko and has performed in operas at Shenandoah. Jose has participated in multiple recitals, a masterclass with Suzzane Duplantis, and has competed in the Virginia NATS competition for the past two years. He has been a part of Caged Birds, a multidisciplinary collection of works including Eastman's Joyboy, Ratniece's Claybird and Monk's Realm Variations. Specializing in Spanish diction, Jose’s repertoire also focuses on Spanish arts songs and arias. Not limited to Spanish, he enjoys discovering and learning arts songs and arias in different languages and has been awarded a Seal of Biliteracy in Spanishand English by the state of Maryland. He has served as treasurer for the student-led organization OPERAtunity and has sung in OPERAtunity's debut performance of Love and Power.
