Shostakovich’s viola sonata was his last work. He died on August 9, 1975, and it was first performed officially on October 1, 1975.

J.S. Bach underwent eye surgery for his blindness by the destructive John Taylor. Complications from the surgery required an additional operation, and he died shortly afterwards.
