Christian Hartman is a cellist, percussionist, composer, and educator who works in styles ranging from Baroque to avant-garde. His work with new music has led to the premieres of several works written for him, and his own compositions have been premiered by various ensembles. He has given masterclasses and clinics at high schools and colleges, and recently joined the faculty of the Community Music School of the Piedmont as instructor of cello. Hartman is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at Shenandoah Conservatory under the tutelage of Julian Schwarz. He performs on a 1922 Mirecurtien cello made by François Delprato.
