Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra
Dear Friends of the IPO,

I am so happy and excited to welcome you to another inspiring season with your Illinois Philharmonic! Our orchestra continues to celebrate the richness of diverse programming—bringing together beloved masterworks, thrilling American voices, and extraordinary guest artists.

We begin with the power of Beethoven—his Prometheus Overture, the Violin Concerto with Adé Williams, and the monumental Symphony No. 5. Soon after, we journey to the stars with Night Moves, pairing John Williams’ E.T. and music from Star Trek with Holst’s The Planets, complete with breathtaking visuals by Adrian Wyard. December brings our beloved Holiday Festival with the Chicago Community Chorus, a joyous tradition for all.

As winter turns to spring, the music continues to inspire. Valentine’s weekend shines with beautiful romantic music by Fanny Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann and more. In March, Vivaldi’s timeless The Four Seasons meets Dvořák’s Serenade in E major. April brings a celebration of cinema with legendary scores from Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Superman, Star Wars, and more. Finally, we conclude in May with a stirring Semiquincentennial tribute as America Turns 250, featuring works by Joan Tower, Jessie Montgomery, Sousa, and Copland’s Lincoln Portrait and Billy the Kid.

This season once again reminds us that music can both unite and uplift. I am deeply proud of our IPO family and all that we accomplish—championing American voices, nurturing new talent, and sharing music with students across our region. I feel privileged to lead such a vibrant organization, and to share these unforgettable experiences with you.

Here’s to a great 2025/26 season, and thank you for being part of our Illinois Philharmonic family.

Sincerely,
Stilian Kirov
