Two young Marines on trial for their lives. A defense team with hardly any courtroom experience. Highly decorated Officers with reputations to uphold. In A Few Good Men, we follow these groups as they wrestle through the highest stakes moments of their lives.
At the center of this play we find Lt. J.G. Daniel A. Kaffee, a fresh-faced attorney in the Navy JAG Corps. Much more interested in his softball games and happy hours, Danny skates by at work, pushing plea bargains, rather than ever taking cases to trial. That is, until a murder case involving young Marines lands on his desk, and his life is changed forever.
We journey with Danny as his apathy transforms into action. He grapples with what it means to have honor and stand in his integrity. We see characters dare to fight for what they believe in, despite the personal risks that poses. Danny asks his co-council Jo why she likes the Marines they represent, and she responds, “At this moment there’s probably no one in the world that Dawson dislikes more than you. And if someone fired a gun at you, he’d stand in front of the bullet without thinking twice.”
Danny learns to stand in front of a metaphorical bullet himself, risking his career to defend what he believes to be right. When do you step into the line fire for the greater good? How can you muster the courage to do the next right thing, especially in the face of adversity?
