A HOUSE THAT BLEEDS

Ozzy Wagner is a senior at Emory University majoring in playwriting. Ozzy's work has been featured in festivals such as KCACTF, the Agnes Scott Writers' Festival, and 'Viral Plays'—but most recently, they had a workshop production of their honors thesis, Everyone Calls Her Grace, about a 16th century Irish Pirate! A House That Bleeds was written while the West Coast was on fire—hopefully, in the next play, we'll learn how to put the fire out. Thanks to their collaborators and the community at Barter!

A RED SOAKED EVENING

Emma McGee is a junior BFA Theatre student at Western Kentucky University. She has an interest in dramaturgy, playwriting, directing, and performing. She has been doing theatre since she was little and is excited to share one of her first plays A Red Soaked Evening for Barter Theatre.

NUCLEAR

Elizabeth Shannon (ELLIS) is a freshman at Marymount Manhattan College, working to obtain her BFA Acting degree. She was an apprentice at the Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET), and was a second year member of the Theatre Focus in the Academy for the Fine Arts. She will be attending Marymount Manhattan College in the fall and majoring in acting. Her play, “Smoke”, was performed virtually with University of Texas El Paso’s student organization Ensemble. Her play, “What Are You Hiding?”, which she co-wrote with Morgan Southwell, was a winner of Baltimore Centerstage’s Young Playwright’s Festival, and a finalist in The Secret Theatre’s Act One: One Act Festival, as well as part of the live-streamed reading series, “The Future Was Now”, by Quarantined Theatre Company, which can be found on YouTube. Her play “To Be Determined”, received a staged reading with Rapid Lemon Productions’ Variations on Vision and is the high school winner for the Northern Arizona Playwriting Showcase. Her play, “Loaded Language”, was a winner of #Enough: Plays to End Gun Violence, a project comprised of 7 plays by young women addressing gun violence. Its world premiere was with South Coast Repertory and is published in an anthology with Playscripts. Her play, “Even When the World Burns, I Am Still With You” was a quarter finalist in Screencraft’s Stage Play Competition in 2021.

DELICATE CONDITION

Caroline Cearley is a third year at University of North Carolina School of the Arts working towards a BFA in theatre directing. Most recently at UNCSA, she directed a dramatization of The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Agatha Christie's The Rats, and is currently assistant directing All's Well That End's Well.  She is super excited to be working with Barter Theatre for the first time and greatly appreciative of all the support she has received from them.

HIT

Ethan Walker is a Sophomore at East Tennessee State University. He is majoring in English with minors in Creative Writing and Storytelling. Ethan has been going to Barter Theatre since he was a child and has always been interested in the spectacle of theatre. Ethan wants to pursue playwriting as a profession; wielding the stage like a blank canvas.

DEER ONLY KNOWS

Brady Willis is in his last semester of studying political science and theatre at Berea College. Aside from stage managing (She Kills Monsters, Pomona, Say Her Name, and currently Urinetown), directing (The Story About the Tattoo), assistant directing (Noises Off!), and acting (Past Time and 1984) on his college’s mainstage, he works as the theatre department teaching assistant and is the president of the campus theatre honor society (Alpha Psi Omega). Deer Only Knows is Brady’s first attempt at playwriting. He would like to dedicate the play to Adanma Onyedike Barton.
