WELCOME TO CURTAIN CALL!
“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.” Maria von Trapp
Growing up, our home was always filled with music. Whether it was mom's or dad's Big Band, Broadway or Italian classic music, or the 60s rock and roll of my older siblings, the sounds of music filled my life.
I was very young when the movie opened in wide release but I remember well that it was quite the adventure to travel from Stamford to Trumbull to the new "big screen" cinema to see this special film. I've loved the story and the music ever since. I've been blessed to visit Salzburg a few times and have walked in the streets of the Family von Trapp...it's quite a magical city.
Someone asked me recently "why this old chestnut." My reply was simple...it's a great show. It's historical, it's a love story, it's a drama and it has incredible music. Yes, liberties were taken - there were 10 children, not seven, (and many more changes) but you can read all about the differences between fact and fiction by clicking here.
To all of our friends and fans who supported on the recent GIVING DAY - THANK YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH! We could not do what we do without the incredible support of our community. And even though we often sell out, ticket sales only account for about half of our annual budget.
Looking ahead, we have several short-run special events coming up and one more full-scale production: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF in June.
We're excited to announce the six Kweskin Theatre musicals scheduled for the new season...the plays will be announced soon. All shows will go on sale to current Flex Pass Subscribers before the general public. Watch your email for details.
For now, thanks for joining us...enjoy, THE SOUND OF MUSIC!
