In this concert, we feature three cherished masterpieces from the Romantic Era. Beginning with Verdi’s Overture to his first great operatic triumph, Nabucco, with its unforgettable theme from the chorus, “Va, pensiero.” We then hear Max Bruch’s virtuosic and lyrically rich Violin Concerto No. 1 featuring Philharmonic’s own concertmaster, Michael Hanson. The evening concludes with Brahms’s beloved pastoral Symphony No. 2, which ends in a blaze of jubilance.
