All of the Pugs appearing in these performances were adopted from Ohio Pug Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit all-volunteer organization operating a surrender, foster care, and placement program for all needy Pugs in Ohio - no matter their age, condition, or health since 1999.
Hamlet hails from Columbus. Hammy as he is known to those close enough to earn belly rubs, arrives on stage the way he arrives everywhere: unbothered and fully expecting applause. Known for his signature sassy snort and his award-winning ability to fold himself into a perfect meatloaf at a moment's notice. Credits include Somebody Dropped Something (a one-act tragedy that ended up well), Belly Up (a physical comedy piece performed entirely on his back, legs akimbo), and He Was Standing Right There, How Did He Get into the Flower Bed. He extends his gratitude to his family for the snacks, the scratches, and for never once questioning his greatness.
Leo hails from Midtown where he resides in a historic home built in 1904. He enjoys al-fresco dining and acting as an ambassador for all rescue dogs. Leo was named Prom King 2026 at PetSpot Academy Daycare. He is also the 2026 small group silver medalist in ball bobbing at the Doglymic Winter Games. Leo is a proud supporter of the Arts and of LGBTQIA causes. He is delighted to make his acting debut with Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.
Mae is delighted to make her stage debut after years of perfecting the art of stealing scenes - and occasionally snacks. Although she has no previous theatrical credits or awards to her name, she has earned the nickname "Mae-hem", thanks to her remarkable talent for quietly appearing wherever muffins and bagels happen to be. When she's not dazzling audiences, Mae enjoys lounging in the pool, unleashing post-bath zoomies worthy of an action film, and transforming into a "spicy little potato" whenever she's trying to convince Mom that playtime should begin immediately. Offstage, Mae is a certified therapy dog with Miami Vally Pet Therapy Association. Mae is especially proud to share the stage with her biological son, Marshall.
Marshall makes his home in Beavercreek and is thrilled to be making his theatrical debut at the ripe old age of two. When he's not rehearsing, Marshall enjoys swimming, riding shotgun in his motorcycle backpack, taking long walks, and harvesting blackberries directly from the garden before the humans can get to them. A gentle soul offstage, Marshall proudly serves as a therapy dog with Miami Valley Pet Therapy Association.
