Richmond Singer-Songwriter Susan Greenbaum, one of America’s top King devotees, brings Carole King’s entire 1971 masterpiece album "Tapestry” to life. Her crowd-pleasing evening of songs also includes her own King-inspired compositions that will warm your heart.
Susan Greenbaum
Susan Greenbaum was a corporate executive in Fortune 500 companies before trading her power suits for performing. She has been singing as long as she’s been speaking: growing up in Kansas City, in college at Harvard, and in Boston, MA and Richmond, VA. In the nearly 25 years since making her career change, Susan has performed on stages large and small across the country. She has released five CDs and won several national songwriting awards, including the Smithsonian Songwriters’ Award, the Philadelphia Songwriters Project, and the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest. Susan has performed with Jason Mraz and Sara Bareilles, and as the opening act on Jewel’s last major tour. She has been featured twice in Billboard Magazine, and Country/Americana music website “Roughstock” calls her “a songwriting talent to be reckoned with,” comparing her writing and singing to Mary Chapin Carpenter and Bonnie Raitt. The Australian, the largest paper in Australia, says, “Greenbaum writes intelligent yet refreshingly uncomplicated and honest lyrics that relate to her life but resonate in a wider context.” Susan has received recognition and a number of honors for her work: Influential Women of Virginia by the Virginia Legal Press; Newsmaker of the Year by the Virginia Press Women; Richmond Style Weekly’s Women in the Arts; and Richmond Magazine’s Theresa Pollak Prize, as Vocalist of the Year. Susan loves to energize audiences in everything from intimate clubs to large concert halls, playing solo, with her band, or in front of a symphony orchestra. Her enthusiastic performances reflect her irrepressibly friendly personality, and she is frequently asked, “How does all that sound come out of someone who is 4’10.5” tall?!”
