Director's Letter

Christmas is my favorite time of year here at the Thomaston Opera House.  As soon as you enter downtown Thomaston the glittering lights on all of the charming buildings and decorative wreathes on the lampposts fills you with excitement.  In the theater, our volunteers deck our halls with a festive Victorian Christmas motif. They don their holiday apparels and joyfully greet our guests.  other organizations join us to ring the bell for the Salvation Army.  it is my hope that this production of Nuncrackers will compliment these experiences and have everyone leaving at the end of the show full of god holiday cheer.

Nuncrackers is not a traditional holiday show.  It is not meant to have a heavy message. Instead it is created simply to entertain.  The fourth of the Nonsense series, NUNCRACKERS, is presented as the first TV special taped in the cable access studio built by Reverend Mother in the convent basement. It stars the nuns you love, plus Father Virgil, and some of Mount Saint Helen’s most talented students. This show is filled with typical NUNSENSE humor and also some of your favorite carols. We’re certain this NUNSENSE Christmas show will make you laugh, and maybe tug at your heartstrings. It’s the perfect way to insure that your holiday season is merry and bright!

It has been a pleasure working with this cast and production team.  With a cast complied of veterans and newcomers alike, each has played a significant role in presenting this entertaining musical. While characters are similar to other versions of the Nonsense series, our cast has created unique personalities that are their own. I have enjoyed every minute watching them take possession of their roles.

I have directed many shows in the past. However, this is my first musical direction.  Singing and dancing does not come naturally to me.  I could not have directed this show without the knowledge and hard work of the production team. A big THANK YOU, to TJ, Shelby, Morgan, Tyler, Ash and David for making this show a success.  I also want to thank Andrea, Ian and Courtney (my staff).  They had to deal with me both night and day.  It is never easy mounting a live stage production.  Everyone involved volunteers over 12 weeks of auditions, rehearsals and performances.  They help with every aspect of the production.  They do this purely for the joy of entertaining.  I hope you will enjoy their efforts.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays this year.  Please enjoy, Nuncrackers.

Jeff
