Letter from Cecilia

Dear Opera Idaho friends,

As I prepare to take the stage for Mariposa Que Vuela, my heart is full. This concert is more than a farewell concert: it's a celebration of growth, transformation, and deep gratitude.

Since my Opera Idaho debut in 2014, this company and this community have become a true artistic home. Over the years, you have embraced me, challenged me, uplifted me, and allowed me to grow, not only as a performer, but as a person. Each production, each rehearsal, each note shared with you has been part of a larger journey that I will carry with me always.

To the audiences who welcomed me with open arms, the colleagues who inspired me with their passion, and the supporters who believed in my voice and my path, thank you. Your encouragement helped me find my way, forge my own path, helped me find my own voice.

Mariposa Que Vuela (Soaring Butterfly) symbolizes the moment of release, of letting go with love, and stepping bravely into the unknown. While this is an end to one chapter, it’s also the beginning of something new. I am excited to share that I’m entering a new phase of my artistic journey: one filled with new roles both on and off the stage, new challenges, and new possibilities. Though I may be flying in a new direction, I will always carry a piece of Opera Idaho and all of you with me.

Mariposa Que Vuela is a love letter to my Idahoan roots, my family, and a gift to you: a thank you, a reflection, and a celebration of everything we’ve shared. I hope you feel the love and gratitude woven into every note.

Your friend,

Cecilia

“This is my life’s story, told with music and images from my childhood to the present day. It shows the audience the two musical worlds I am straddling, from where I started, working in the field with my mother, to the world of opera.”
