It’s not every day that one person gets to present two instruments in one recital. This very idea has always been a dream of mine and I am so incredibly grateful for my professors, my family, and my friends for endlessly supporting me on my journey as a multi-disciplined musician. The music performed in this recital is meant to transport the audience into new and different worlds filled with love, loss, and adventure. I hope you enjoy this journey that we go on together.
Serenity Flores is a mezzo-soprano and harpist originally from Springfield, Virginia. She is currently in her junior year pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree at Shenandoah Conservatory, studying with Dr. Fotina Naumenko. Operatic appearances at Shenandoah include portraying Amy Winehouse in an original production titled Caged Birds, Moth in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Hannah Wiener in Philip Glass’s Hydrogen Jukebox. Currently, she is portraying Milin in Shostakovich’s Moscow Cheryomushki. Previously, she portrayed Mother Marie in Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites. In addition to singing, Serenity is a skilled harpist. In collaboration with Shenandoah Conservatory and Greenspring Academy of Music, Serenity has had the opportunity to record at Abbey Road Studios in London, England. She has performed with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, joining them on tour in Argentina in 2023, as well as the Shenandoah Conservatory Wind Ensemble. In addition to performing, Serenity has worked as a mentor to the musicians at the Greenspring Academy of Music teaching voice and harp.
