1st ACT
Natalya Getman presents an original choreography, inspired by Mikhail Fokine's classic ballet. Set to the mesmerizing piano music of Frédéric Chopin, selected and orchestrated by Alexander Glazunov, this romantic reverie is frequently cited as the first ballet simply about mood and dance.
While its roots may be traced back to its predecessor, this new interpretation breathes fresh life into the essence of the Romantic era. By forgoing a conventional plot, it immerses the audience in a world of emotions and ethereal movements, revealing a perpetual longing for perfection.
Natalya Getman's vision revives the spirit of that long-forgotten era, seeking to restore the conventional beauty of ballet. Through her choreography, the audience is transported to a time when ballet embodied a sense of enchantment and fantasy.

INTERMISSION
2nd ACT
Inspired by Prosper Mérimée's novel and brought to life through the opera by Georges Bizet, Carmen is a captivating story that has transcended time and art forms. From its scandalous beginnings, Bizet's Carmen quickly rose to fame and became one of the most beloved operas globally. This success inspired various ballet adaptations, including Alberto Alonso's Carmen Suite, choreographed to Rodion Shchedrin's "Carmen - Suite for Strings and Percussion."
Natalya Getman's ballet portrayal of Carmen delves deep into the complexity and intensity of human emotions, laying bare the raw feelings we experience in relationships.
Carmen, a free-spirited and passionate woman, finds herself entangled in a love triangle with José, a temperamental man, and the charismatic Toreador Escamillo. Set in Sevilla, Spain, around 1820, the story exposes the clash between Carmen's unconventional behavior and society's disapproval.
Carmen's indomitable spirit becomes a beacon against the suffocating chains of conformity. Her strength and breathtaking beauty will captivate you, as her passionate story unfolds before your eyes.
Amidst the intoxicating allure of love, jealousy creeps in, threatening to tear apart the very fabric of this intense connection and culminating in a tragic outcome, showcasing the devastating consequences of its destructive force.
Through Getman's interpretation, we witness the profound impact of society's disapproval and jealousy on the beauty of love, as the story hurtles towards a tragic outcome. Carmen's journey reminds us that even the strongest passions can be torn apart by the devastating power of jealousy.
