Alexander V. Nichols’ designs have been set on companies including American Conservatory Theater, California Shakespeare Festival, National Theater of Taiwan and The Culture Project. Mr. Nichols worked with the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company as technical director and designed scenery and lighting for pieces including Georgia Stone. He served as resident designer for Pennsylvania Ballet, Hartford Ballet, and American Repertory Ballet, and as lighting director for American Ballet Theatre. Other dance credits include San Francisco Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Singapore Dance Theatre. He has collaborated with choreographers including Christopher d’Amboise, Bill T. Jones, Mark Morris, Michael Smuin, and Brenda Way. Mr. Nichols is designing the lighting for the courtyard fountain at California’s Niebaum Coppola Winery and the project, “Circle of Memory.” His awards include four Isadora Duncan Awards and Dean Goodman
Awards and a Bay Area Critics Circle Award.
